My client is a privately owned real estate company with over 50 years of experience in acquiring, redeveloping, leasing, and managing commercial and residential properties. Specializing in heritage restoration and renovation, it provides in-house leasing, maintenance, architectural, and tenant improvement services. Known for fostering long-term tenant relationships, some tenants have been with the company for over three decades.About The Role:
We are looking for an Intermediate Project Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and provide oversight for the Organization’s current and upcoming development projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and takes ownership of their responsibilities. They should also excel at building strong working relationships with both internal teams and external partners.Responsibilities:
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including handling accounts payable and receivable.
- Set up and plan accounting systems for new development projects.
- Review general ledger entries and prepare monthly reports for external stakeholders as needed.
- Handle government filings such as GST and PST.
- Communicate with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies and track missing invoices.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Maintain cost allocation and budget forecasting on a series of commercial and residential projects
- Bank liaison associated with progress draws
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Support the year-end audit process by preparing working papers and analyses.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in accounting (preferred).
- 1-2 years of experience in accounting, particularly in project accounting.
- Experience working in a high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow up proactively to meet deadlines.
- Analytical skills to interpret financial data and identify inconsistencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-motivated individual who takes initiative, knows when to seek assistance, and is comfortable doing so.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $60,000-$75,000, depending on experience + Annual bonus
