Our private ownership provides long-term business planning and strategic decision horizons supported by a strong financial position.Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a Commercial Analyst/ Manager to join our Client Solutions (Business Development) team. This role may be based out of our Calgary, Toronto or Edmonton offices. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Client Solutions, this role is responsible for developing commercials and commercial strategies for new and existing project opportunities in the Energy (including transition and LNG), Nuclear, Infrastructure and Mining markets.This high-visibility position entails daily interactions with executives, requiring a high degree of confidence and precision in your communications to address any inquiries. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be eager to participate in community engagement initiatives, such as our Bantrel Cares events.in this full time permanent role and be a champion ofDuties & Responsibilities:Provides commercial, risk management, and contractual support to Client Solutions, Project Management, and Legal as follows:
- Develops commercial strategies with each project pursuit team
- Identifies key commercial and contractual risk factors in proposal such as payment security, customer/end-user/delivery, HSE, compliance with taxation, insurance, license regulations, bank guarantee/bonds
- Considers the contract form and structure based on scope and any prior agreement or precedence for agreement with the customer or in the scope delivery
- Supports Legal with preparation of comments, clarifications and recommended amendments to contract terms and conditions consistent with corporate risk policies
- Prepare positions for contract negotiations
- Teach commercial awareness skills to the Client Solutions, Project Management, and Procurement teams through on the job and formal training sessions
- Additional duties as required
Qualifications
- A post-secondary degree in Engineering, Construction, Business/Accounting or Law
- 6+ years of industry experience in a project execution and/or operations, business development roles within an EPC/EPCM organization
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to listen and communicate with stakeholders at all levels including Clients, Senior Leaders, and frontline employees
- Experience in contract management, preferably in engineering and construction contracting
- Proven knowledge of legal terminology and concepts used in service contracts
- Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities, with extremely high attention to detail
- Provide creative business-oriented advice
- Experience working in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders
- Availability to travel a few days a month is required, with flexibility around scheduling
