Job IntroductionThe Youth Service is looking to appoint a number of Youth Support Workers – Leader in Charge who can design, develop and deliver high quality, inclusive youth provision for young people within their local areas.The role will focus on supporting young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 for young people with additional needs) enabling young people to identify and respond to their needs and interests and encourage youth voice across the district.Post-holders will be responsible for workplace supervision of staff, students and volunteers and be able to maintain and provide management information as required by the senior management team.A particular emphasis of the work will be to work with vulnerable young people providing high quality support to enable young people to make decisions to further their personal development. Post-holders will take lead responsibility and provide support to a caseload of vulnerable young people.To be ready for this opportunity you need to possess:
- It is a requirement of the post that applicants are JNC Youth Work qualified
- Ability to use and apply knowledge of health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and regulations including risks in Youth Work.
- Ability to use a range of basic IT packages.
- Ability to adopt a process of continual improvement and suggest ways of working more efficiently and effectively to improve service delivery.
- Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate information.
- Demonstrate knowledge of working with the issues affecting young people which are important and impact on the lives of young people.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to work with young people.
- Identify what are the most important skills when building relationships with young people.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply an understanding of equality of opportunity and voluntary participation in a youth work situation.
- To deliver the skills to enable young people to work effectively in groups.
- To work as part of a team to deliver responsive, needs led youth work interventions, at unsociable hours (including day, night and weekends)
- Knowledge of working with vulnerable young people and to be effective in empowering young people to achieve their planned outcomes.
- An enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be undertaken for this post.
