- Build healthy relationships with Tribal Nations and Indigenous organizations through facilitating listening sessions, conducting awareness building presentations, and convening community events and needs assessments around NASA Earth observations
- Monitor contracted work either externally or on-site in the facility of the contractor. Works closely with NASA’s Tribal Affairs Office, including the Tribal Liaison, on Agency-wide responses to Executive Orders and Tribal Consultation.
- Organize, review, and deliver presentations and place-based remote sensing trainings that are relevant to partner organizations.
- Create annual fiscal year plans and strategic plans based on extensive and deep knowledge of Indigenous needs and knowledge systems to cultivate knowledge sharing pathways between NASA Earth Observations and Indigenous knowledge and land management.
- Set and maintain program budgets including outlining key performance indicators and program success metrics.
- Perform multiple functions with the ability to identify, develop, apply, and test analytical techniques to derive useful Earth science information from a variety of remotely sensing data and supportive data obtained from in-situ or laboratory.
- Facilitate respectful and reciprocal communication, create collaboration opportunities, and manage projects engaging Indigenous groups across NASA’s Earth Science Division and the Office of Stem Engagement.
- Establish and sustain partnerships across federal agencies, space agencies, and international organizations.

QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement.To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
- Contributing to or co-leading large organizational and/or international inter-agency activities (e.g., task forces, working groups, communities of practice, etc.) focused on work with Indigenous groups;
- Evaluating research in the field of environmental remote sensing and describing results in technical and/or programmatic settings; and
- Leading coordination across various Tribal Affairs Offices and Tribal Liaison offices to strengthen relationships with Indigenous groups.

a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
