Why join this teamThis is a newly created executive-level opportunity in our growing Risk Management department. Develop, implement and lead a non-financial risk monitoring program across the organization. Build and oversee the risk governance and management framework. Collaborate thoroughly with business units, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to ensure strong risk oversight and compliance with applicable regulations.This position is expected to be hybrid.NYC Salary Range – $179,700 – $230,000 annually; compensation is commensurate to geographic location.What you’ll do

- Develop and lead processes intended to operationalize the second line’s review, challenge, and escalation of non-financial risks aligned to business activity consistent with established guidance.
- Lead the Operational Risk Identification, Risk Appetite, and Risk Appetite Assessment processes on behalf of each line of business, including the identification of appropriate metrics and thresholds.
- Develop and maintain the Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework, including risk identification methodologies, control assessment criteria, and reporting templates, while analyzing RCSA results to identify high-risk areas and prioritize mitigation actions.
- Oversee the facilitation of RCSA workshops with business owners across different business lines to conduct risk assessments, identify key controls, and ensure timely completion of assessments by designated personnel with accurate data collection.
- Establish and maintain a robust governance framework aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support assessment of operational risk impact arising from new products and services.
- Proactively engage with first line of defense and team members to effectively execute the above-described responsibilities.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across different business functions to identify potential non-financial risks, including analyzing the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks to prioritize risk mitigation efforts.
- Develop risk indicators and key performance metrics to monitor risk levels.
- Design and implement effective controls to mitigate identified non-financial risks and collaborate with business units to ensure controls are embedded within operational processes.
- Review and update existing controls to adapt to changing business environments and regulatory requirements.
What we’re seeking
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field
- 10+ years of risk and compliance experience in the banking industry with a focus on governance, and non-financial risk with at least 5 years of leadership experience
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and methodologies
- Expertise in identifying and assessing non-financial risks across various business functions
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and risk management frameworks
- Proficient in MS Office and other applicable risk and compliance software and applications
- Strong project management and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable policies
