The incumbent will provide technical assistance to health authorities and other relevant stakeholders, supporting WHO programmes by applying behavioural insights and implementing behavioural science interventions in accordance with the Country Cooperation Strategy.
Duties:
- The incumbent will perform all or part of the following, and other related responsibilities as required by the needs of the office:
- Work in coordination with all technical focal points at the regional and headquarters levels, under the guidance of the head of the WHO country office.
- Provide technical advice and support for the strengthening of the behavioural insights capacity in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
- Support the development, monitoring and evaluation of the strategies and plans for the behavioural insights functions in the relevant Ministries of Health.
- Contribute to and coordinate the design and execution of behavioural science research and projects, including the development of methodologies, diagnosis of problems, design of interventions, data analysis, and evaluation.
- Technically support the application of behavioural insights to the design and execution of diverse public health activities, with a focus on promoting health and addressing behavioural risk factors associated with both communicable and noncommunicable diseases.
- Design and deliver behavioural insights trainings and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Develop or adapt tools and processes for the respective behavioural insights functions based on identified needs, tailored for each country’s specific context.
- Support knowledge sharing and capacity building across WHO programmatic areas by contributing to the development of tools for internal use and advocacy materials.
- Represent WHO in inter-agency meetings and external forums related to behavioural sciences.
Education:
Essential:
- University degree (bachelor’s) in public health, behavioural sciences, social sciences, or similar field.
Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in public health program design and implementation, including relevant experience with behavioural sciences.
Skills:
- Knowledge of the specific or technical area of behavioural sciences
- Familiarity with the existing health system in Malaysia
- Good communication skills and a teamwork spirit
- Strong writing skills and a good attention to detail
- Persistence in follow-up, tact, and diplomacy in working with diverse stakeholders
Language Skills:
Essential:
- Expert knowledge of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
