The selected intern will perform duties to include, but not limited to the following: · Assist with content and design of social media posts and conduct analysis of social media metrics; · Assist with the production of communication products, including conducting research, compiling information, coordinating logistics, and assisting with public inquiries; · Assist with preparations for events, high-level visitors from headquarters and field offices, and speaking engagements; – Compile, analyze and organize data for office reports; · Attend meetings and draft summaries; · Perform other tasks as necessary.Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.Additional InformationThe internship is located in the United Nations Information Center in Washington, D.C. The Center is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in the United States. The Information Center is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating UN information materials to a local audience in English; engaging local and regional partners; and, overall, bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves. The duration of the internship is three months with possibility of extension for another three additional months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time or part-time depending on academic obligations. Special notice: Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams. Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts in desirable. Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.Intern Specific textInterns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
