The role encompasses accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining comprehensive financial records, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. The person will ensure strict compliance with IWMI’s financial policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance team and the smooth functioning of IWMI’s India operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly and accurately.
- Assist in payroll processing and ensure proper documentation.
- Track expenses, Statements of Expenses (SOE) and other incoming invoices and ensure they align with approved budgets.
- Support the preparation of budget forecasts and financial summaries as support required by Administrative and finance manager.
- Maintain accurate financial records, including invoices, receipts, and payment logs by scanning documents and proper filing.
- Update and manage financial databases and accounting systems using dedicated ERP of IWMI.
- Ensure adherence to organizational financial policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing necessary documents and reports.
- Prepare financial reports, summaries, and statements for management and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on financial procedures and compliance to research staff and partners.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to resolve financial queries.
- Assist the Administrative and Finance Manager in daily tasks and special projects.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance finance team efficiency.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- University degree in Accounting, Business, Financial Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft office package – especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams – coupled with good computer skills to analyse data, consolidate and report information, and track measures.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of ERPs, preferably SAP.
- Excellent oral and written language skills in English, including effective listening and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret terms and conditions in donor agreements.
- Strong teamworking skills with the ability to coordinate work across departments.
- Ability to manage and prioritize a varied workload while meeting deadlines.
