Job description

  • Working under the guidance of the Senior Advisor on LDCS, LLDCs and SIDS, the intern will provide research support for the preparation of inputs towards the knowledge products to be released during LLDC3, in particular:
  • Support the compilation of existing knowledge products on best practices from UNDP projects addressing challenges specific to LLDCs
  • Support the organization of high-level events in the lead-up to LLDC3.
  • Support to the preparation of inputs to UNDP messaging for LLDC3
  • Support the preparation of inputs for side events during LLDC3;

Required Skills and ExperienceEducation:Applicants to the UNDP internship program must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher – Preference for master level) in fields such as Public Policy, Political Sciences Studies Environmental Science, Energy Studies, Climate Policy, International Relations, Marketing or a related field or any related field.
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in fields such as Studies of communication, infographic, design, journalism or any related field;
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above), and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Experience:

  • Strong research, analytical, writing and editing skills, with track record in producing development research, articles and other material in English
  • Strong interest in, and knowledge of, global development and the work of international organisations;
  • Demonstrated understanding of international development issues, including in the area if Agenda 2030 and SDGs
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals as a Team Player;
  • Good organizational and time management skills, attention to detail and proven ability to work independently under tight deadlines;
  • Capacity to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • Good social media skills.
  • Strong verbal and writing communications skills in English.

Advantageous competencies:

  • Knowledge of the UN/UNDP and commitment to UN mission and UNDP mandate is desirable;
  • Previous organisational experience or working experience in a developing country is desirable.

Language requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English language is required.

  • Proof of medical insurance.
