We have set up an independent non-governmental organization under the name of Dijla Agricultural Association (DAA).

Dijla is interested in development programs and are keen on the development of various sectors of local economy, husbandry and industry. Our activities and objectives include the setting up of modern and advanced model projects that will contribute positively to the local economy, tackling unemployment and to help the scientific research sector in the country.

 

Scope of Work:

Under direct supervision of the Program Manager, the WASH Engineer will rehabilitate the water system in Hatra district including water network pipelines, district main water tank and implement hygiene promotion activities to the area.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessing civil works for water system rehabilitation and related WASH facilities. 
  • Preparing specifications, progress reports, BoQ, expected completion dates and payment documents regarding the the project phases.
  • Close supervision for implementation of the engineering work in liaison with local authorities.
  • Coordinate project activities with Program Manager and Project Officer. 
  • Analyzing and resolving work problems. 
  • Supervise site monitors, daily workers, and project contractors. 
  • Preparing variation orders if needed. 
  • Attending DAA Staff and local authorities’ meetings. 
  • Regular visit to the project sites to ensure quality of the implemented work and coordinate with M&E for any raised/found issues.
  • Any other related duty assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or related field. 
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience in WASH sector.
  • Ability to read and interpret the projects related documents, and specifications. 
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Arabic. 
  • Understanding of the situation of the region and commitment to humanitarian principles. 
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility, commitment, patience and a good sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to work well and punctually under pressure.
