The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) internship program provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage qualified women and men, in particular, nationals of developing countries, with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to apply.
Current Opportunity
One of the most significant challenges faced by Saint Lucia is the difficulty experienced by the public and private sector to access sufficient international climate finance to assist the country in its efforts to adapt to and mitigate against the impacts of climate change. To address this challenge, Saint Lucia has embarked on an ambitious work program that will enhance its climate finance ecosystem. This work program will be delivered via the implementation of 2 major projects. These projects aim to diversify the country’s donor base, improve access to international climate funds, develop new and innovative finance mechanisms, and build the climate and sustainable financing capacity of public and private sector stakeholders. These projects are being implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), under the leadership of the Department of Economic Development, which is Saint Lucia’s Nationally Designated Authority (NDA) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
GGGI desires to hire two talented, highly motivated university students to support the implementation of these 2 projects over the next 6 months. Under the leadership of the Sustainable Finance Senior Officer, and in collaboration with other GGGI Eastern Caribbean staff, the interns will be required to:
- Assist with the completion of market surveys with MSMEs to understand the barriers they face with accessing financing for their green initiatives.
- Provide logistical support for the hosting of meetings, workshops, and capacity building sessions with the public and private sector.
- Collect business related information on private sector institutions to help determine their suitability as candidates for specific sustainable financing initiatives.
- Support the monitoring and evaluation of key project activities and assist with the preparation of project reports.
- Assist with the design of project communications products and stakeholder engagement materials.
Eligibility
- Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
- Possess an excellent command of English.
Qualification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
