You will ensure that appropriate engineering standards are used in relation to design & construction on allocated projects to support Project Engineers in the discharge of their responsibilitiesWe are looking for a B&C Engineer to help deliver the B&C, Track, E&P and Sginalling renewals portfolios. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of Railway Civil Engineering solutions and be able to work towards holding an engineering competence as a Designated Project Engineer and Project Engineer (B&C). The role of Assistant Project Engineer (B&C) is a development role within the Capable Owner component of the Southern Integrated Delivery (SID) team.About the role (External)Key Accountabilities:1. Assist the Project Engineer in the preparation of specifications.2. Assist the Project Engineer in the supervision of design development and completing the assurance of designs.3. Assist the Project Engineer in the monitoring of construction work to monitor compliance with design, standards, and legislation.4. Assist the Project Engineer in the development and maintenance of quality systems throughout the lifecycle of projects.5. Assist in the monitoring of project construction HSQE.6. Maintain a log demonstrating own development and achievements towards meeting the competency requirements to discharge the role of a Project Engineer.Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:Essential· Engineering qualification in a relevant discipline – Civil/Structural/Buildings/Geotechnical (GNVQ, ONC, HNC, Degree).· Analytical and problem solving skills.· Good communication skills (verbal and written).· Understanding of railway operations.Desirable

  • Appreciation of commercial and procurement procedures.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution (ICE/IStructE) and working towards IEng or CEng status.
  • Knowledge of railway engineering assurance and systems engineering standards.
  • Knowledge of consents and planning processes.

Knowledge of railway civil engineering standards.Ability to work in a collaborative working environment.How to apply (External)Salary: £31,000 to £39,000 per annum plus £3,270 inner London allowanceThe salary package also includes:
