As UNICEF, we are strongly committed to putting affected families, children and adolescents at the centre of our work, as reflected in the UNICEF’s Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action, the IASC commitments on Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), as well as the Grand Bargain “participation revolution” commitment. These are central elements for improving the quality and effectiveness of our humanitarian and development programmes and ensuring affected populations can fulfil their rights to participate and be heard.

The Accountability to Affected Populations Section in the Office of Emergency Programmes – Geneva, is leading the implementation of UNICEF AAP strategy globally. The Section ensures a systematic and coherent organization-wide approach to AAP so that it becomes an integral part of good quality programming in development and humanitarian situations alike.   • Manage internal knowledge platforms, organizing SharePoint sites and libraries;
  • In partnership with the Advocacy and Communication Division and other relevant Divisions, support the dissemination of regular updates and case studies on AAP across the organization, and through the AAP technical Working Group and EMOPS-wide humanitarian resources channels;
  • Manage the development and dissemination of the Quarterly AAP Newsletter (compiling and curating the content from regions, visual design in Canva and publishing in MailJet);
  • Lead the organization of the AAP global Community of practice, ensuring regular communication flows across its members and organizing quarterly meetings;
  • Support the development and dissemination of documents and knowledge products (Handbook, strategies, technical briefs) in various forms for both internal and external channels (SharePoint News posts, News links, e-mail blurbs, etc.) and coordinate the graphic design and copy-editing of AAP technical briefs and other relevant documents;
  • Support to note-taking and reporting of regular meetings;
  • Support on data analysis and visualization, particularly the analysis of AAP performance based on the organization-wide Core Standard Indicators.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Accountability and Inclusion Helpdesk, and undertake any other tasks as needed.
