About the Client
Our Client is looking for a Senior Accountant – 3 months contract to permanent.About the Opportunity
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner
- Prepare and post complex journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and adjustments
- Ensure that all financial data is properly classified and consistent with accounting standards
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Assist in the preparation of management reports, financial analyses, and variance analyses
- Process in- and outcoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures. Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, and posting entries for cash receipts and disbursements. Review and assist in A/R, A/P, Bank deposits and collections, payroll entries and reconciliation
- Perform and review reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS). Participate in internal and external audits by providing required documentation and support
- Prepare and review tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. Assist with tax planning and analysis, working with external tax advisors as needed
- Stay updated on industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes to ensure continuous improvement
- Participate in special projects such as system implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and financial analysis
About You:
- Accounting Designation
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and record-keeping
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with different teams
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of tax laws and regulations relevant to the Not for Profit sector
