This is a new role and you will be a key member and important intermediary between various members of the data community including, but not limited to, data owners, data consumers, data scientists, data engineers, data & business analysts, data architecture and the data governance function.Job Role AccountabilitiesDevelop and implement Retail data strategy and operating framework, including a network of Data Stewards, and an ongoing mapping exercise to understand the customer data landscape; where and how customer data is being used and stored and the overall business data lifecycle flows through the business users.Ensure the most critical data is identified, owned, governed, and defined. Use technical data and metadata management knowledge to help identify and recommend innovative ways to enhance data collection, processing, and reporting.Be an active member of the wider data community across the group, collaborating with delivery managers for ongoing and future projects involving data.Promote Data Governance, data quality and advanced analytics tooling capabilities to foster responsibilities and control of the data assets lifecycle.Embed the Enterprise and SII Data Governance and Data Quality Frameworks within Retail as well as other polices such as Information Retention and Anonymisation Policy with the Data Steward network and wider data user community.Collaborate with Data Analysts and Business Analysts from the data team to gather reporting requirements which can be used to build data products such as reports, dashboards, machine learning models and AI products.Examples of Key ActivitiesEnsure a single version of truth for customer data and that the data quality is of the highest standard.Continuously monitor data quality KPI’s to identify and mitigate potential data quality issues at all stages of the data life cycle. Ensure data quality issues are addressed at source. Share findings and recommendations with senior management to drive informed decision-making.Interact with a varied group of stakeholders to truly understand our data and enable analysts and other data professionals across the business to have the appropriate access to relevant data and reporting.Collaborate with the Data Governance function on the development and ongoing execution of an enterprise wide Data Governance and Data Quality Framework.Collaborate with the Data Governance function on the development and implementation of Data Management capabilities such as metadata management, data quality management, consent management and data modelling within Retail.Collaborate within Retail and Group IT to ensure data initiatives align with organisational goals.Develop a culture of accountability and awareness of data management and governance, including designing and delivering training.Support the data team with the implementation and ongoing improvement of the AI Powered Data Analytics System (formally known as Enterprise Data Platform).Work with business stakeholders to ensure that sufficient process documentation is produced e.g. source systems and downstream reporting has useful metadata and that business processes are well documented.Collaborate with Data Architecture, Data Analysts & Data Engineers on the data modelling lifecycle as well as specification of data transformation rules to ensure that data models and data stores of interest to Retail represent business reality and easy to useExperience, Skills and QualificationThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:Proven experience in roles related to data handling and management with responsibility for overseeing data initiatives and coordinating with different teams is essentialA track record in deploying data governance and quality and assurance workflowsProficiency in data management tools (e.g. SQL, Excel) and ideally experience using other languages such as PythonSound understanding of data governance and regulatory responsibilities.Familiarity with tools for data analysis and visualization (like Power BI).Familiarity with data quality, data governance and master data management toolingA self-starter and strong team player.Strong problem-solving skills- an ability to troubleshoot data issues and develop effective solutions.Proactive and curious about how things work and getting to the bottom of data nuances and act with a commercial lens, prioritising the actions and usefulness of outputsExcellent communication skills and abilityUpper second class degree ( degree field in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Statistics or equivalent, preferred)Professional certification such as Certified Data Management Professional – desirableCompany BenefitsA Competitive Salary, Pension Scheme and Life AssuranceAlong with 25 Days Annual Leave plus an Additional Day on us for your BirthdayPrivate Medical Cover and Income Protection, just in caseA generous and highly achievable bonus scheme – paid annually based on individual and company performance against targetsOpportunity to progress within your career both in-role and within the companyFREE access to the Headspace App, a 24/7 Employee Assistance Helpline and Trained Physical & Mental Health First Aiders (On-Site)A variety of Employee Funded Benefits available to you via our Online Benefits PortalPlus, several additional purchase options available for you and your loved onesWhy Just?We are committed to building a more sustainable business and have publicly committed to reduce our scope 3 emissions to Net Zero by 2050 and our scope 1 and 2 emissions to Net Zero by 2025.
