As a leading provider of environmental and construction management services, Ecosis is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety across all projects.We are currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Technician to join our Environmental Assessment team, contributing to remediation and reclamation programs throughout Alberta. To succeed in this role, you will view yourself as a proficient leader and communicator, take pride in mentoring your team, and be motivated by creative problem-solving in the face of project challenges.Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support field programs primarily within Alberta, including,
- Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs) to assess landscape, soils, and vegetation.
- Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) to evaluate contamination and environmental risk.
- Collect and process water samples for environmental monitoring and remediation purposes.
- Conduct data collection, entry, and management, ensuring adherence to quality assurance and control protocols.
- Review and interpret analytical results to inform remediation and reclamation strategies.
- Prepare technical reports, including data summaries, site observations, and recommendations.
- Provide technical expertise to support various reclamation and remediation initiatives.
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and assist with project management tasks.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Participate fully in Ecosis’ safety program to ensure compliance and a culture of safety.
- Mentor and support junior staff, offering guidance on fieldwork and technical tasks.
Requirements and Skills:
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in environmental sciences, land reclamation, or a related discipline.
- Registered or eligible for registration with a professional body (e.g., AIA, ASPB).
- 3+ years of field experience in environmental assessments, reclamation, or remediation.
- Expertise in one or more of the following:
- Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
- Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs)
- Soil sampling and classification
- Site remediation and reclamation practices
- Water quality sampling
- Knowledge of Alberta’s environmental regulations and best practices.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Excellent technical writing abilities for the development of reports and project documentation.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel for fieldwork as needed.
