South Dublin County PartnershipLocal Development ManagerContract type: 2-year fixed term contract with potential to extend.The Local Development Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting area-based development within Tallaght and Clondalkin, with a particular focus on disadvantaged communities. This individual will oversee the Empowering Communities Programme (ECP) and other targeted initiatives within South Dublin County Partnership (SDCP), ensuring an integrated and community-focused approach. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, they will foster collaboration and deliver impactful solutions to address local needs.Key Responsibilities:Programme Leadership & Delivery
- Oversee the implementation and management of the Empowering Communities Programme (ECP) and other targeted initiatives within SDCP.
- Develop and deliver targeted interventions tailored to the needs of disadvantaged communities, ensuring alignment with SDCP’s strategic goals.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on programme performance, ensuring continuous improvement and measurable impact.
Community Engagement & Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, local residents, and stakeholders to ensure inclusive and participatory engagement.
- Facilitate collaborative processes that empower communities to actively participate in their development.
- Promote a community development approach that leverages existing community strengths and resources.
Collaboration & Integration
- Coordinate internal SDCP teams to deliver integrated, cohesive solutions across various programmes and initiatives.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with statutory bodies, NGOs, local authorities, and other stakeholders to foster collaborative impact.
- Advocate for the alignment of SDCP resources and programmes with community priorities.
Capacity Building
- Support the development and capacity-building of the local community to enable their active involvement in decision-making processes.
- Provide training, resources, and guidance to strengthen local leadership and community resilience.
Policy & Strategy Development
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and strategies that address local challenges and align with broader SDCP objectives.
- Ensure that all initiatives are in line with national policies and government frameworks for area-based development.
Team Leadership & Development
- Foster employee growth through mentorship, feedback, development opportunities, and support of career advancement.
- Regular review of team performance, ensuring corrective actions are taken to keep initiatives on track.
- Effective assignment of tasks and responsibilities through trusting and empowering staff to take ownership of their roles.
Person Specification:Essential Requirements
- Qualifications: Degree in Community Development, Social Policy, Sociology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 experience in the community/NGO sector.
- Experience in managing and delivering pilot programmes such as ECP or similar targeted initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-stakeholder environments, building effective partnerships and collaborations.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of community development principles, particularly in the context of disadvantaged communities.
- Knowledge of the social, economic, and structural challenges facing communities in Tallaght and Clondalkin is an advantage.
- Excellent project management skills, including monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership abilities.
- Capacity to lead projects that require multi-disciplinary teams that contain internal and external organisations.
- Previous team management experience desirable.
SALARYSalary Scale for this role is €53,042 – €62,692 (Exclusive 2 LSI’s).The successful candidate will start on point 1.Benefits of this position:
