Enjoy a high standard of living with low housing costs and short commutes when you live and work as an in ophthalmologist with an interest in Glaucoma Saskatchewan, the sunniest province in Canada.Job DescriptionThe Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a team-oriented and professional Ophthalmologist (FRCSC) with an interest in glaucoma to be part of Regina’s dynamic and expanding ophthalmology division. Our practice is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our patients, and we are looking for a physician who shares this commitment. The specialist will join us in an independent, fee-for-service, community-based Ophthalmology practice. The Regina Ophthalmology Division includes 12 specialists with diverse sub-specialty interests.Ophthalmology services are based out of the Pasqua Hospital, a community-based hospital and referral centre specializing in Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology and Paediatric Oncology. A broad range of ophthalmic services are offered at the Pasqua Hospital Eye Centre. The Eye Centre is an ambulatory care unit that provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to the population of Southern Saskatchewan. A multidisciplinary team of Registered Nurses, Orthoptists, Licensed Practical Nurses, Clerk/Receptionists, Ophthalmic Assistants, Ophthalmic Photographers and Ophthalmologists provides client care. The Eye Centre coordinates its activities with other hospital departments, external agencies and health care professionals to provide optimal client care.Call coverage is a requirement for the position and is currently 1:10, Monday to Monday, 0800 to 0800, covering out-of-town calls, Emergency Departments, and Ophthalmology after-hour calls. There is a separate rotation for long weekends. In addition to fee-for-service, you would be eligible for any on-call retainer consistent with the Specialist Emergency Coverage Program.The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College has a well-resourced framework across the continuum that results in quality community partnerships, successful and comparable students across all sites, elevated community health, and better graduate retention in communities.Job QualificationsThe successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Ophthalmology and be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to the provision of high-quality patient and family-centred care.The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Surgery and Division of Ophthalmology in the Regina Area and will be appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Saskatchewan.All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; in accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA.
