Would you like to be responsible for managing waste information and providing a customer interface for Waste Management? Our Chalk River location is looking for a Waste Systems Officer to use various data systems and waste tracking systems to ensure compliance with waste information requirements and provide efficient waste management services.   • Investigating, locating, analyzing, and interpreting information and data for system input.
  • Analyzing and reporting data in response to requests from ERM staff and other customers.
  • Providing advice and guidance related to the safe management and disposal of waste at CNL.
  • Solving technical waste challenges across CNL missions.
  • Maintaining relationships with customers, waste receivers, and functional support groups, including Radiation Protection, Environmental, and Waste Management.
  • Gathering data from various sources to create organized and useful information.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education OR Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and has typically more than 3 years pertinent experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
  • Experience
  • Experience with MS Office, Adobe or equivalent PDF editor.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good verbal and technical writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with data entry skills.
  • Strong customer-focused mindset and ability to create reports and updates that cater to a broad range of users.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work as part of a team, as well as the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of waste management processes.
  • Knowledge of waste segregation, processing and packaging.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • 40-hour work week, 10 hours per day.
  • Required to work remotely and on-site at a desk with personal computers/workstations.
