CATF is highly respected for its deep expertise and research on energy and industrial systems and potential strategies, technologies, and policies that can radically shrink their impact on the planet’s atmosphere. Our team of experts and advocates (and global network of subject matter experts and civil society partners) put this research and knowledge into action by designing and enacting public policies that drive toward zero emissions. We also support policies and work directly with private industry to innovate in technology to make the path to zero emissions swift and affordable. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.ROLECATF is seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Manager to lead our new Electricity Program. This program is central to advancing CATF’s mission by supporting strategies and solutions to decarbonize the power sector through research, analysis, strategic thought leadership, and policy advocacy. The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to achieve a decarbonized power system worldwide. This role requires a deep understanding of the complexities, needs, and challenges of the power sector in a carbon-constrained world, including expertise on power market regulation and market design, as well as the ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders.Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate program activities to ensure progress aligns with objectives and deliverables
- Work with the Program Director on project management tasks, including managing timelines and prioritizing initiatives
- Create and manage technical and policy materials for grant proposals, reports, and other communications
- Project manage new schemes and initiatives from conception to completion including the matrix management of appropriate resources
- Work with program staff to make sure all project deliverables are completed in a timely manner
- Collaborate on fundraising and outreach efforts to support expansion of the team and portfolio
- Track program budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with grant requirements and financial plans
- Assist in creating and reviewing budget breakdowns and resource allocation plans
- Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals, reports, and other fundraising materials to secure program funding
- Conduct research on electric technologies, policies, and market developments to inform program strategies
- Help translate technical and policy information into clear, actionable content for diverse stakeholders
- Manage other external relationships with electric program stakeholders including NGO partners, governments, and the private sector/trade associations
- Collaborate with program staff to incorporate best practices and emerging trends in electric advocacy
- Facilitate coordination with internal teams, including Advocacy, Finance, Development, and Communications, to ensure alignment across programs
- Assist in building relationships with external stakeholders, including funders and policymakers, to enhance program visibility and impact
- Support and attend the organization of key events, such as roundtables, workshops, and coalition-building initiatives
Skills/Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in engineering, physical science, or life science or a Master’s degree in public policy, environmental policy, or related field with a strong analytical/quantitative focus
- 4+ years of experience in the power sector
- Deep understanding of the technical, economic, regulatory, and policy aspects of power sector decarbonization
- Experience performing or analyzing power system modeling, such as capacity expansion modeling and production cost modeling, is a plus
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a diverse team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to non-expert audiences
- Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the power sector
- Commitment to CATF’s mission and values, with a focus on innovative, data-driven, and pragmatic solutions to climate challenges
- Willingness and appetite to travel within the U.S. and globally
Compensation and Location:This is a full-time, remote position, with location flexible within the United States. CATF offers an excellent benefits package ( ) and an annual salary range of $111,540 – $140,000, depending on experience.CATF provides equal employment opportunities.
