We are seeking to hire a researcher to analyse the dynamics of gene flow from crop species to their wild relatives, which has negative impact on efforts to conserve of genetic diversity, obscures our understanding of the process of plant domestication, and increases risks associated with the leakage of herbicide resistance. A Postdoctoral Research Associate will lead the genomic analyses in this project, utilizing contemporary, historical and ancient samples of rice and rice wild relatives, and identifying ancient crop progenitors and the true forms of their wild relatives. (PDF, 165.92kb)More detailsWe are seeking candidates holding a PhD/D.Phil degree or equivalent in a relevant research field (e.g. plant biology, genomics, agricultural sciences) and with bioinformatics/computational biology experience, particularly, in high-throughput sequencing data processing and ancient DNA, as well as laboratory experience working with ancient DNA. Our ideal candidate will be a team player who can work on their own initiative and is enthusiastic about tutoring others. This position is open to international candidates and we particularly encourage applications from ethnic and gender minority candidates.Please upload a copy of your research CV to support your application. This should include your publication and funding record, as well as any other relevant information to demonstrate your track record as a research scientist e.g. scientific honours and panel / committee memberships, PhD supervision etc.Interviews are due to take place on 21 March.
