We are seeking a candidate who will enhance our established expertise in Statistics, Numerical Analysis, and Data Science.About the roleThe successful candidate will be expected to deliver a high-quality research programme and demonstrate a proven ability to develop and submit competitive applications for external funding. A track record in securing research funding is essential. In addition to research, candidates should show a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including the supervision of PhD students.About usThe Department of Mathematical Sciences has over 70 academic staff from all areas of Mathematics.Our Department emphasises the unity of mathematics and there are strong interactions between research groups, especially with Statistics, Numerical Analysis, and Applied Mathematics, as well as a wide variety of interdisciplinary research projects and industrial collaborations.Research and visibility are enhanced by Maths4DL. In addition, the Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation (IMI) drives a range of interdisciplinary and industrial collaborations, broadening the reach of mathematical sciences across the University and outside academia.These activities are supported by the Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath (SAMBa), which currently has over 70 PhD students and an annual intake of 10-20 research students.The University is situated in the city of Bath, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and provides for a high quality of life, with good transport links to the rest of the UK and fast connections to Bristol and London.Additional informationApplications from all groups currently under-represented in academic posts are particularly encouraged.
