Description:An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist within the andrology team at the Edinburgh Fertility Centre, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The department provides a comprehensive range of services for the diagnosis and treatment of people with fertility related issues.This is a patient-facing role and you will work within the ISO 15189 accredited Reproductive Medicine Laboratory, which provides a diagnostic andrology service. The successful candidate will also be trained in procedures relating to sperm cryopreservation and processing samples for fertility treatment.We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist (or Band 6 Annex 21) with meticulous attention to detail. Applicants must have relevant knowledge and practical experience working in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.As an experienced Biomedical Scientist, you will have a flexible approach and the ability to work as part of a small laboratory team within a clinical multidisciplinary setting.It is desirable that Band 6 Annex 21 applicants have commenced the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in andrology or the relevant ARCS specialist module in andrology. For applicants applying for a Band 6 Annex 21 position, if successful, you will be supported to complete the appropriate specialist qualification. A schedule of in-house training will be provided and the specialist qualification will be completed within the agreed timescale prior to progression to Band 6 with the salary paid at Annex 21 as per AfC Terms and Conditions.This is a permanent, full-time post (37 hours per week) with the core working pattern being Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:00pm and Friday 8:00 3:30pm.Please note that this can be a training post, therefore Annex 21 applies
