Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Education and Professional Experience required:
- University degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in medical sciences, forensic sciences, criminalistics, or related fields is required. A higher degree (master’s or doctorate) is an advantage but not mandatory. Relevant certifications or specialized training in forensic medicine, pathology, or medicolegal investigations may also be considered.
- Experience in medicolegal practice and casework is an asset but not mandatory. Both junior candidates with relevant academic or internship experience and senior professionals with hands-on expertise are encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience with the ICRC or an international humanitarian agency is an asset but not required. Relevant experience in national forensic institutions, public health, or law enforcement is also valued.
- Experience in supporting project management and training activities.
- Strong sense of responsibility and adaptability, able to work overtime when needed.
- Flexibility and ability to work independently and with a sense of initiative.
- Ability to cope with difficult situations (field, mortuaries, incident scenes, etc.).
- Analytical, planning, communication and organizing skills.
- Capacity to adapt messages to diverse audiences.
- Excellent level in English and Arabic language.
- Able to travel and stay overnights working for the ICRC in the field (outside Baghdad) and abroad (Kuwait, Jordan, KSA).
- Understanding of cultural diversity, gender equality and equal opportunities.
