Job Description:Manage the University of Florida Workers Compensation Program by coordinating the care of injured employees with the State Division of Risk Management and Medical Case Management provider. Responds to injured employee’s questions and concerns. Ensure that injured employees are provided appropriate treatment and care. Manage return to work with departmental contacts and supervisors. Submit appropriate monthly reporting on behalf of the University. Acts as backup for the Unemployment Compensation Program as well as the CMVO Drug Testing Program.Serves as primary contact with the State of Florida Division of Risk Management and AmeriSys, the Medical Case Management administrator. Acts as liaison with medical facilities, case managers, Risk Management adjusters, Employee Relations and university department administrators to ensure proper treatment and care of injured employees. Performs workers’ compensation program functions which include ensuring accuracy and quality of First report of Injury or Illness forms. Maintains workers’ compensation database for tracking claims. Tracks and reports lost time. Prepares vouchers in Peoplesoft for billing and prepares 13 week wage statements.Interprets workers’ compensation policies and procedures for departments through on-site visits, phone discussions, and written communications. Works with departments on leave and attendance issues for injured employees, and monitors work status of employees after medical appointments. Coordinates with departments, medical providers and EH&S to evaluate work restrictions, job duties and possible accommodations for injured employees in support of the Modified Duty program and return to work for injured employees.Conduct individual counseling sessions with injured employees to inform them of their rights, responsibilities and legal requirements under the Workers’ Compensation Law, the Managed Care Agreement and the university’s policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.Corresponds and consults with counsel as needed regarding litigated workers’ compensation cases. Prepare documentation for litigated claims and attend hearings as university representative.Assist with training programs on workers’ compensation and create and update training materials and procedure manuals. Attend seminars and workshops to expand knowledge base.Act as back-up for the Commercial Drivers License Drug and Alcohol Testing Program which includes complete all state/federally required forms, ensure records and test results and maintained and updated, arrange testing for pre-employment, random and other categories of testing, prepare, maintain and update all reports and databases required by law and/or necessary to facilitate the commercial drivers program processes. Expected Salary:$52,000 – $55,000
Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to investigate, analyze data to determine facts and draw reasonable conclusions, interpret workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation, Unemployment Compensation, and Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Programs
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to multi-task
