About us The Division of Biosciences at UCL is one of the world’s foremost centres for research and teaching in the biological sciences. We have an outstanding international reputation and a community of over 500 staff and more than 300 PhD students engaged in cutting edge research and collaboration.About the roleThis is an exciting opportunity to join the laboratory of Professor Stefan Trapp within the Centre for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Neuroscience ( ) to conduct cutting-edge laboratory research as part of the research project “Targeting specific brain GLP-1 receptors to treat obesity” funded by the Medical Research Council at UCL and Aberdeen. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to produce independent and original contributions to this project. In addition to developing and conducting the research, the successful candidate will communicate results as scientific papers and in scientific presentations at local, national and international conferences.The role is available as soon as possible on an open-ended contract funded for 24 months from appointment in the first instance. Please note that the salary range will be £43,374 – £46,796 per annum maximum (inclusive of London Allowance).Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff. If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online or have any queries about the application process, please contact the HR Administrator ([email protected]) stating the advert reference number in the subject line.About youYou are a highly motivated Research Fellow holding a PhD (or be studying towards it) in Physiology or relevant subject area and proven knowledge of research techniques and methodologies in two or more of the following: metabolic analysis in vivo, electrophysiology in vivo or in vitro, viral gene transfer in brain tissue, immunohistochemistry or in vivo imaging. Candidates must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in the area of mouse behavioural or metabolic analysis, patch clamp electrophysiology or in vivo imaging. Practical experience with some of the following specialist skills and techniques is essential: stereotaxic injections, electrophysiology, opto- or pharmacogenetics, and rodent feeding or behavioural paradigms.
