Position: Full-Time Teaching Assistant
Start Date: January 2025Are you passionate about supporting young people with autism? Do you want to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students aged 7 to 19? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join one of schools based in Shillingstone, Blandford Forum, a specialized school for students with autism.About the Role:
As a full-time Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our teaching staff to support students across various age groups, providing tailored assistance in their learning and development. Your role will involve one-on-one support, small group work, and helping students build vital life skills, both in the classroom and within the school community.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students in engaging with their learning, providing tailored support and encouragement
- Help manage classroom behavior and provide emotional support when needed
- Implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) to meet each student’s unique needs
- Support students in developing social skills and promoting independence
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies
- Assist with personal care and mobility where required
Key Skills and Qualities:
- A genuine passion for working with young people with autism
- Patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Experience in a similar role, or a willingness to learn and receive training
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with staff, students, and parents
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with autism is desirable
- A teaching assistant qualification (or equivalent) is a plus, though not essential
- A willingness to undertake further professional development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
