Background
The Ashor Iraqi Foundation for Relief and Development has been awarded a sub-grant under the Nabni – Building for Peace (B4P) Facility to support the Co-Design Phase of the project. The project aims to promote peacebuilding and development in Iraq through collaborative analysis, community engagement, and the development of a full project proposal. The Foundation is responsible for implementing key activities, including dialogue sessions, validation workshops, and technical assessments in Baghdad.
Objectives of the Position
The Researcher Assistants will support the research team in conducting data collection, analysis, and reporting activities as part of the Co-Design Phase. They will assist in gathering qualitative and quantitative data, conducting Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and supporting dialogue and validation sessions. The Researcher Assistants will play a key role in ensuring that research activities are conducted efficiently and in line with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection:
- Assist in conducting Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), focus group discussions, and other data collection activities in Baghdad and other project areas as required.
- Support field researchers in organizing and conducting dialogue and validation sessions with community members, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Collect and document qualitative and quantitative data in line with the project’s research objectives.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Assist in the analysis of collected data, including transcription, coding, and interpretation of qualitative data.
- Support the preparation of research reports, including the LPCA report drafts and other project-related documents.
- Ensure that all data is accurately recorded, stored, and reported in compliance with project requirements.
- Field Support:
- Provide logistical support for field research activities, including organizing meetings, preparing materials, and coordinating with local stakeholders.
- Assist in the selection and training of field researchers, ensuring they understand the research objectives and methodologies.
- Travel is required to support field research activities.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure that all research activities comply with the project’s Environmental and Social (E&S) screening and categorization requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of research activities, including signed consent forms, interview transcripts, and other documentation.
- Ensure that all research activities adhere to ethical standards and data protection guidelines.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Work closely with the Project Coordinator and other team members to ensure that research activities are aligned with project timelines and objectives.
- Provide regular updates on research progress and challenges to the Project Coordinator.
- Support the preparation of monthly progress reports and other project documentation as required.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in research, data collection, and analysis, preferably in the fields of peacebuilding, community development, or humanitarian work.
- Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research, including interviews, focus group discussions, and surveys.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, NVivo) is an advantage.
- Experience working in Baghdad and/or other conflict-affected areas in Iraq is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including community members and local authorities.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Arabic (written and spoken) is essential. Knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging environments.
Key Deliverables
- Accurate and timely collection of qualitative and quantitative data in Baghdad and other project areas.
- Transcripts, coded data, and analysis reports submitted to the Project Coordinator.
- Support in the preparation of research reports, including the LPCA report drafts.
Regular updates on research progress and challenges provided to the Project Coordinator.
