Job Title: Full-Cycle Bookkeeper
Location: Downtown, Portage and Main
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 per year + BenefitsJob Overview:Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to manage all aspects of financial transactions, payroll, and reporting. This role requires expertise in general ledger maintenance, trust accounting, and corporate tax compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:Banking & Financial Oversight

  • Monitor bank balances and check for unusual activity using TD Web Banking.
  • Process payroll, maintain employee records, and generate T4s.
  • Track and remit RRSP/DPSP contributions for employees and employers.
  • Manage employee enrollment in GWL Benefits and ensure accurate payroll deductions.
  • Create, review, and authorize rapid wires and transfers (RPDWs).

Accounts Payable & Trust Accounting

  • Handle all company expense payments.
  • Manage trust accounts, including:
  • Entering wire payments into the General Ledger (GL).
  • Reconciling trust accounts, PAC deposits, and miscellaneous deposits.
  • Recording all transfers and reviewing payable batches before GL posting.
  • Balancing trust bank and lender accounts.
  • Reconciling tax accounts.

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Maintain the General Ledger and reconcile bank accounts.
  • Process GST and corporate tax installments.
  • Track U/Fees and 1/10th Fees Due Branches.
  • Prepare and produce monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Meet with the owners’ group as required (monthly).
  • Calculate tax reserves for investment in term deposits.

Year-End & Compliance

  • Work with auditors to prepare year-end financial audits.
  • Distribute audited financial statements to relevant parties.
  • Handle the distribution of T5s received from banks/Credit Unions in February.

Administrative & Office Duties

  • Order and maintain office supplies.
  • Monitor and manage offsite document storage.

Payment Processing & Backup Support

  • Set up and authorize wires and transfers.
  • Maintain and edit bank wire templates as needed.
  • Review and authorize EFTs and first-of-month PAC accuracy.
  • Conduct owner responsibility tax audits.
  • Invoice lenders for service fees on a monthly basis.

Other Duties as Required

  • Provide backup support for corporate insurance policy monitoring.
  • Assist in calculating lender disbursements.
  • Support junior staff with mortgage confirmations and related tasks.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in full-cycle bookkeeping
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with trust accounting is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
