Start Date: ImmediatelyWe are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEMH Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Hastings. This full-time, contract role offers an exciting opportunity to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them to develop confidence, resilience, and academic success within a structured and nurturing environment.As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering tailored lessons that meet the needs of students with complex emotional and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with a supportive team of teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff, ensuring students engage with learning in a way that suits their individual needs.This role is ideal for an empathetic and adaptable educator with a passion for inclusive education. While experience working with SEMH students is desirable, it is not essential, as comprehensive training and professional development will be provided.Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons suited to students with SEMH needs.
- Foster a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages learning and emotional regulation.
- Use a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach to teaching and behaviour management.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop individual learning plans (ILPs).
- Support students with self-regulation, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
- Assess and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies as necessary.
- Maintain strong communication with parents, carers, and multi-agency professionals.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure the welfare and well-being of all students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A strong understanding of SEMH teaching strategies and behaviour management.
- Experience working in an SEMH or SEND setting is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, adaptable, and resilient approach to teaching.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
