Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?Reporting to the Director, Investments Technology, we are looking for a Senior Scrum Master who will support the delivery of initiatives that are transformational, innovative, and regulatory. The role will enable one or more multi-disciplinary agile teams to deliver technology projects aligned with business strategic priorities and regulatory demands. The senior Scrum Master is a key role within an Agile delivery team as it removes any impediments that obstruct a team’s pursuit of its sprint goals and ultimately delivers a product that generates business benefits for one or several RBC lines of business. Senior Scrum Masters play an important role in the long-term evolution of agile practices at RBC.Of course, the journey would not be possible without world-class talent. - Effectively manage overall project deliverables on medium to large initiatives; Including integration of vendor products and in-house applications.
- Develop and manage the detailed schedule, identify early warning indicators, provide direction for early resolution of risks, and issues and clear escalation path for program committees.
- Oversee financials and staffing levels to efficiently meet project delivery requirements and track value for effective decision-making
- Collaborate with internal and external partners (e.g. Vendors, RBC IT teams, Product)
- Build / present for Senior Director & VP level presentations
- Oversees the development of program/project plans, KPIs, and metrics (including status reporting), prioritization calls & project communications.
- Ensure the completion of risk assessments and the identification & execution of contingency plans
- Deliver initiatives using appropriate methods; Where agile this includes managing daily scrums and other key agile ceremonies.
- Satisfy multiple stakeholders in a very complex and demanding business and technology environment; Deliver business results on high-profile and business-critical assignments
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
- An attitude for success, proactive approach to project management, outstanding verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail, and passion for innovation
- 10+ years Project Management experience; spanning small projects and large programs with high level of value (benefit/cost), and very high level of complexity / uncertainty, and a track record of successful delivery
- Proven ability to manage high visible programs/projects with third party vendors and significant technology components along with having a strong executive presence and advanced communication, presentation and facilitation skills
- Advanced knowledge of change, issue, and risk management and working knowledge of Software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies/day-2-day ceremonies; Agile experience fostering team improvements through standard Agile processes and ceremonies.
Nice-to-have
- Undergraduate degree (preferred) – Preferably in Business, Technology or Financial Services
- Project/Program Management certifications (e.g. PMP and/or PgMP)
- Data Migration design, development, or Architecture experience
- Previous experience working in Investments / Technology
