The AWS Demand Planning team is looking for a Technical Program Manager to facilitate planning S3 storage infrastructure. This role will require the candidate to deep dive the individual steps that are required to take an instance from idea to delivery and ensure that AWS maintains a valid plan for these produts at all times. Specifically, this individual will impact the overall AWS CapEx plan by: planning the required servers needed to launch in an AWS region/new product, understanding demand shaping options for internal customers to cost/power efficient hardware, and helping compare S3’s forecast against the approved CapEx plan. The ideal candidate is one who has worked at the intersection of software engineering teams, finance, and supply chains; who can understand constraints from each group and work between worlds to create strategic plans to ensure S3’s continued growth while optimizing for long-term efficiency.Key job responsibilities
– Working with EBS PMs to understand the launch and expansion roadmap
– Matching supply of EBS positions and server materials from supply chain partners to the types of demand that fit within those positions
– Quickly responding to changes in the roadmap based on supply availability, customer demand, or hardware engineering constraints.A day in the life
Our team operates on a bi-monthly planning cycle, so we expect to spend ~2 weeks creating a new plan, ~2 weeks adjusting the plan based on feedback from our downstream partners, and ~4 weeks monitoring, tuning, and evaluating the plan. In addition, we expect this role to work closely with SDE teams that are concurrently developing new software to help increase planning effectiveness.About the team
The AWS Demand Planning team is responsible for building forecasts/plans that drive almost all of the CapEx spend for AWS, and will directly impact the purchase of $billions of server components, data center power, and networking equipment. The team is primarily composed of TPMs but we are the primary customer of several SDE teams in EC2 and AWS Infrastructure who software to improve the planning process.Utility Computing (UC)

As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

– 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
– 3+ years of software development experience

– Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedulesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
