About the roleAre you ready to power up your career with an industry leader? Balfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team is looking for a Cabling Project Engineer to join our Measured Term Framework in South Wales.As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery, profitability, and quality of our projects. You’ll also be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of safety, sustainability, and environmental responsibility while fostering a collaborative working environment.Key Responsibilities:✔ Support the Project Manager in delivering successful projects within budget and schedule.
✔ Ensure health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are met at all times.
✔ Promote a collaborative and engaging work culture, ensuring client and stakeholder needs are managed effectively.
✔ Assist in securing and delivering new projects in line with the Power T&D Strategic Plan.What you’ll be doing

  • Delivery of the Power T&D business strategy and objectives on your project(s) and outperform on key success measures
  • Understand the relevant commercial terms and conditions for your project.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager/ Project Manager to proactively manage pro the customer relationship during delivery, including change and decision making to effectively manage expectations
  • Support the Senior Project Manager / Project Manager in leadership of Zero Harm and drive for continuous improvement across SHEQ
  • Collaborate relentlessly to ensure best opportunities for Power T&D are targeted and that the resources are utilised in the most efficient way on your project
  • Show clear and visible leadership and display the right leadership behaviours
  • Support the Senior Project Manager/Project Manager to develop and support the project team to be successful by talking positively, listening actively and encouraging constantly
  • Support the Senior Project Manager/Project Manager to successfully implement implement the Gated Business Lifecycle at every opportunity
  • Ensure the contracts KPI are met monthly and are recorded
  • Work collaboratively with the Contract Managers and Support Functions to deliver your project(s) and enhance solid working relationships as one team across the business.
  • Planning, controlling and managing the delivery of project your project(s) utilising the necessary resource and skills, within the agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality
  • Prepare Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Task briefings to ensure a Safe System of Work.
  • Instil a strong safety culture and develop the capability of our project team(s) to take personal responsibility through strong visible leadership
  • Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences and near miss incidents onto the company system.
  • Drive yourself and others to comply with all business policies, procedures and governance
  • Ensure that all works are carried out in line with CDM and Temporary Works regulations.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager/Project Manager lead on developing a high performance culture of one team
  • Talk positively and listen actively across the business and the people within it

Who we’re looking forThe following experience/qualifications are essential:-

  • Experience of supporting/ delivery of Dig & Lay type frameworks preferably working within the power industry 11-132kV
  • Understanding NRSWA compliance which is required
  • Knowledge and experience of Project Management methodology
  • Strong People Management
  • Commercial awareness with knowledge of both budgetary and Financial control
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Ability to work across conflicting interest groups to develop solutions to complex operational and commercial problems
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, able to tease out sensitive issues and lead cross-functional teams towards solutions
  • Clean drivers license
  • Requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends to suit contract requirement
