Job IntroductionAre you an experienced highways engineer who wants to make a difference to delays and congestion within the 5,500 miles of road network in Lincolnshire? If so, we have the role for you.About the RoleWe are currently looking for a person who can ensure the efficient use of the Highway Network in south Lincolnshire, covering areas such as Spalding, Kirton, and Donington. You will coordinate all permit requests within your area and carry out site inspections. You will have an overview of all activity on the highway in your area, including events. You will provide timely and expert advice to stakeholders and contractors on all street works related matters, including traffic management. You will safeguard the needs of all road users and residents whilst helping to facilitate works on the highway, organising these in the most efficient way possible.Working within the Lincolnshire Permit Scheme in accordance with the New Road and Street Works Act 1991, the Traffic Management Act 2004, and the Highways Act 1980 and the County Council’s Policies and procedures, you will liaise with all stakeholders, including Council Members on matters relating to roadwork legislation, inspection, and enforcement.An in-depth industry experience of specification and materials is essential, along with experience of NRSWA 1991 and traffic management legislation.You will assist the Street Works and Permitting Manager in the interpretation and implementation of legislation and policy to safeguard the authority against potential legal challenges. This will include constant review and amendment to working practices, procedures and systems.About YouIt is essential that you hold a NRSWA Supervisors qualification and HNC in an appropriate discipline OR have a demonstrable level of knowledge and skill suitable for the role.You will be able to communicate with stakeholders effectively and to build relationships to work towards the corporate vision of achieving more than we can on our own. You will be able to demonstrate ability in data and performance management, and a strong experience in Street Works/Highways sector.Above all else you need to have a positive “can do” attitude and be passionate about ensuring the Lincolnshire Highways Network delivers for the residents and road users of the county.Please note this role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area and therefore a valid driving licence and use of a car is required.Hybrid working is a feature of this role. The successful applicant will be required to attend the office alongside the rest of the team one or two days a week.
