Job description

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking individual, with an IBMS accredited Biomedical Science Degree and professional registration with the Health Care Professions Council or is in a position to register on employment to join the histopathology team at DGRI.

Dumfries & Galloway has a population of 150,000 people covered by approximately 175 General Practitioners who all access the laboratories.

Histopathology operates a Monday to Friday working week and processes approximately 12,000 histology specimens. Applicants must have a flexible approach to work. You will be required to become proficient in the use of analytical equipment after suitable training, following Departmental SOPs.

An increasing part of a medical laboratory service is compliance with regulatory bodies, such as UKAS. You will be required to assist in helping the department in maintaining its accreditation status with such bodies.
