A typical example of the equipment developed would be tooling to perform remote inspection of a nuclear facility. This opportunity is for an electrical engineering student to contribute to this team in the design and assembly of electrical systems to support this equipment.Please submit a resume, cover letter, and copy of an up-to-date transcript by the posting close date of January 5th at 11:59 pm EST to ensure consideration for student employment. Duration: 4 months (May-August)
Field of Study: Mechanical engineering or machinist technologist collage program (or similar discipline).
Year of study: 1st, 2nd ,3rd year of studiesWhat you will be doing:

  • Assisting with lab testing of equipment.
  • With guidance assemble equipment and tooling using engineering drawings.
  • Participating in idea generation for the design and development of novel equipment.
  • Helping to maintain and implement good housekeeping practices in a prototyping machine shop.
  • Machine material to support prototyping of equipment using traditional manufacturing techniques (mills, lathes, drill press etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • should be enrolled in a mechanical engineering or machinist technologist collage program (or similar discipline).
  • Experience
  • Experience in robotics, automation, and remote tooling would be an asset
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • A desire to innovate.
  • Basic knowledge of machine design practices, machined components, strength of materials, and traditional manufacturing techniques.
  • Basic knowledge in sensors, transducers, hydraulics, and pneumatics, chain drives, gear drives and where and when to utilize them.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques is an asset.
  • Knowledge of technologies outside of traditional mechanical design would be an asset.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
