A typical example of the equipment developed would be tooling to perform remote inspection of a nuclear facility. This opportunity is for a mechanical engineering technology student to contribute to a team that is designing new equipment, assembling and testing the equipment in lab facilities.Please submit a resume, cover letter, and copy of an up-to-date transcript by the posting close date of January 5th at 11:59 pm EST to ensure consideration for student employment. Year of study: 2nd year of studyWhat you will be doing:
- Designing mechanical parts using 3D CAD software.
- Creating assemblies using 3D CAD software.
- Evaluating and selecting components from manufacturer’s catalogues.
- Producing engineering drawings that are compliant with the ASME Y14.5-2009 drawing standard.
- Selecting appropriate tolerances and performing tolerance stack analysis.
- Performing dimensional inspections of existing components.
- Assembling prototype tooling.
- Testing prototype tooling.
- Technical writing.
- Performing mechanical design calculations.
- Other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- Education /Experience
- Completed a minimum of four (4) semesters of a six (6) semester Mechanical Technologist diploma course at the college level. Applications from students currently studying at the university level will not be considered for this position.
- Achieved a minimum of a “B” grade in a college level 3D solid modeling course. Experience with Autodesk Inventor is preferred but proficiency in SOLIDWORKS or Pro/ENGINEER will be considered as equivalent.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- The ability to work in either the metric or imperial measurement system.
- The ability to read technical drawings.
- The ability to evaluate and select appropriate tolerances that are to be applied to technical drawings.
- The ability to create and dimension technical drawings.
- The ability to demonstrate the correct use of dimensional metrology tools.
- Knowledge of technologies outside of traditional mechanical design.
- General computer literacy with the Microsoft operating system as well as Microsoft Office.
- Good practical problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills using English as the workplace language.
- Good organizational skills, be versatile and adaptable and be able to work in a team environment. A good work ethic is a must.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
