Duration: 4-8 months (Beginning in May)

Year of study: 1st yearWhat you will be doing:

  • Collecting samples for radiological and non-radiological parameters in accordance with prescribed processes
  • Maintaining accurate/complete records
  • Collecting field measurements using a variety of instrumentation, such as noise meters and water quality meters
  • Calibrating equipment as required
  • Downloading data from the instrumentation and preparing data for analysis
  • Preparing and coordinating the shipment of samples to a contract laboratory for analysis
  • Assisting in the management and reorganization of equipment used for the EA Follow-up Program
  • Providing assistance to the Environmental Specialists – Permitting and Integration to learn more about how environmental regulations at the federal and provincial levels are applied to the PHAI
  • Performing other related duties, as assigned
  • Other duties assigned by Manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • A valid Ontario class “G” (or equivalent) driver’s licence
  • A valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card is considered an asset, but is not mandatory/required
  • The ability to carry out routine and non-routine assignments
  • The ability to work effectively, and maintain good working relationships with other team members
  • A safety-first attitude with good judgement and a questioning attitude
  • A high degree of accountability and personal awareness
  • The ability to perform duties independently, when necessary, with minimum supervision
  • Other outdoor skills and experience, such as operation of GPS systems and knowledge of maps, operation of other equipment such as hand held tools.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required

  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location:CNL’s Historic Waste Program Management Office is in Port Hope, Ontario’s beautiful and historic community. Roughly 100 km east of Toronto, it is still close enough to the “Big City” without all the hassle of being in the “Big City.” As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited.
