POSITION SUMMARYThe Youth Voice & Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and further developing youth voice and influence, particularly in the context of youth mental health, at Jigsaw. This role will emphasise a rights-based approach to youth participation and engagement, ensuring that young people’s rights to have their voices heard and considered in decision-making processes, are upheld in Jigsaw.The post holder will support the Youth Voice & Engagement Manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to enhance youth engagement across Jigsaw. This involves informing the design and coordination of participation methodologies, providing staff training, and ensuring high standards of youth engagement practices among Jigsaw staff to keep the voice of young people and their right to be heard central to Jigsaw’s work.Additionally, the Youth Voice & Engagement Coordinator will collaborate with internal and external partners involved in rights-based work across Ireland. This collaboration aims to share learning, foster innovation and evolve best practices in youth participation. By working together with other organisations committed to rights-based approaches, Jigsaw seeks to enhance the collective impact on youth mental health and ensure that the voices of young people are at the forefront of national discussions, developments and policy making.ROLE SUPPORTSTo support the post holder, the Youth Voice & Engagement Manager will provide regular supervision. - Support the Youth Voice & Engagement Manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating Jigsaw’s Framework for Youth Voice & Engagement, emphasising a rights-based approach, aligned with national and internal best practices.
- Design and develop programmes and projects that support and enhance youth voice activities within Jigsaw, ensuring these initiatives are innovative, rights-based, and aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver training and capability-building sessions to support the rollout of, and reflection on relevant participation approaches and methodologies for ensuring that youth voice in decision-making is at the heart of all of Jigsaw’s work.
- Collaborate with the Research & Evaluation Team to support evidencing current rights-based approaches within Jigsaw, review these practices, and propose innovative methods to enhance and measure youth engagement and participation.
- Further develop and coordinate robust communication channels and systems to ensure that there is open and consistent communication between young people and decision-makers, locally and nationally, to ensure that youth voice is at the centre of decision-making across the organisation.
- Work collaboratively with other colleagues to promote critical thinking, reflective practice, and knowledge transfer in a supportive shared learning environment.
- Support the Youth Voice & Engagement Manager in overseeing the Youth Advocate Volunteer Programme at a national level, ensuring best practices in volunteer management and engaging volunteers in purposeful voluntary work that aligns with their own motivations and interests and the goals of Jigsaw.
- Manage and maintain an up-to-date accurate database of youth involvement in Jigsaw, in line with GDPR and organisational policies and procedures.
- Produce high quality written reports, presentations, toolkits, resources and materials to support the implementation of Jigsaw’s youth participation practice.
- Comply with Jigsaw’s Child Protection and Welfare Policy.
- Comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts 1988-2011, Freedom of Information Acts 1999-2014 and the General Data Protection Regulation 2018.
- Be flexible regarding working hours in line with the needs of the organisation (including late evening and weekend work).
- Participate in team meetings and attend other meetings as deemed necessary.
- Undertake other duties as may be requested by the Youth Voice & Engagement Manager/Jigsaw as required.
RequirementsEssential:
- Degree or equivalent in child or human rights, relevant health or social sector discipline youth/community work or education.
- Knowledge of theory and practice of youth participation and rights-based approaches to youth voice in decision-making.
- Evidence of a commitment to the principles of equality and diversity in engaging young people in participative approaches.
- Experience in delivering and evaluating best practice approaches to youth participation.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies, programmes, and initiatives relevant to young people, youth participation, child rights and/or youth mental health.
- Minimum of three years’ experience of group facilitation with both young people and adult groups.
- Experience of working cross-functionally within organisations and/or collaboratively across multiple agencies and sectors.
- Familiarity of the youth mental health landscape.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in an NGO environment.
- Full, clean driving license.
- Experience of working with volunteers.

Factors taken into account in determining an appropriate scale include the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the job. The salary range for this role will be €42,000 – €60,320.Jigsaw operates the following benefits for its employees:
