Our client is an exciting NGO that has been recently funded by the government to drive women’s initiatives domestically and abroad. Established in 2019, our client was given a federal mandate to help develop innovative programming worldwide for gender equality across the globe. As the organization has grown tremendously in a short period of time, and have well established global programs, the finance team has been looking for some extra help leading up to the last quarter of 2023. Share their vision? The finance team needs support.We are currently searching for a temporary Accountant to help the AVP Finance. We have an immediate opening for a detail-oriented and task-driven Accountant to assist with reconciliations, accrual cleanups, and financial organization during our year-end process.Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile accounts, including credit cards, expenses, and invoices.
  • Review and clean up accruals, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in year-end close activities, including journal entries and adjustments.
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports for auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulations.
  • Support email communications and documentation related to financial records.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines.

The ideal candidate for the Accountant position should possess a strong foundation in full cycle accounting and year end close. Post secondary education in accounting is required, and a CPA designation or pursuit an asset. Minimum of 3 years in a general accounting role is expected. You should demonstrate proficiency in accounting software, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential, as well as keen attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping. As the Accountant in this team, you will also have excellent communication and organizational skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders. A solid understanding of financial compliance requirements, auditing processes, and year end close is necessary. Adaptability, a proactive approach to process improvement, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment will contribute to success in this role.What will make you stand out:
