The Accounting Analyst is responsible for providing support to the Financial Reporting Team in the areas of Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial Reporting. Strong communication and analytical skills are required to connect with internal stakeholders.Duties and ResponsibilitiesReporting/Accounting:

  • Assist in preparing accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  • Assist with the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist in posting cash applications including bank reconciliation and special cheque runs
  • Generate system reports through CRM and turn raw data into actionable reports for Managers.
  • Participate in team initiatives to implement process improvements for financial reporting, system improvements and automation.
  • Run ad-hoc analysis as requested by business partners and financial reporting team

Billing:

  • Billing/posting multiple revenue types to our Great Plains corporate accounting system
  • Performing reconciliation of billings to contracted amounts in accordance with agency agreements
  • Updating and maintaining schedules of management fees
  • Obtaining approvals for changes in contracted revenues and filing related documentation
  • Capturing reimbursable expenses to be charged back to clients

Accounts receivable responsibilities include:

  • Recording and posting payments received by cash, cheque, pre-authorized withdrawals or electronic funds transfer
  • Follow-up on outstanding balances on aged A/R listing per company policy
  • Reconciling the sub-ledger at month end
  • Investigating and resolving any irregularities or enquiries
  • Preparing monthly analysis to identify variances in monthly revenues and billings
  • Producing standard and ad hoc monthly reports as required
  • Special billings

Periodically completing special projects and performing other tasks consistent with the stated objective of the positionEducation & Experience

  • A degree or diploma in accounting is required

Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies

  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly, accurately and independently
  • Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to input complex formulas and create Pivot Tables
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP is an asset
  • Standard proficiency in Word and Outlook
  • Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines in all circumstances
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships within the organization
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
