Position Summary
We are currently seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our Sheppard office in North York. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work from home and the office.
Responsibilities
The role is primarily responsible for accounts payable management, with other duties including month end reconciliations and special projects.
The candidate should be experienced in all aspects of accounts payable, including:
- AP Inbox management, including identifying priority requests
- Coordinating approvals, coding and entry into accounting system
- Set up new vendors and validate payment information
- Requesting and reconciling vendor statements
- Preparing payment runs for approval and executing EFTs, cheques and wires
- Reviewing costs to budget and assisting team leads with support for analysis
- Accrual preparation and month end journal entries
- Processing Certify expense reports & coordinate payments
- Processing rent invoices & update rent deposit worksheet
- Vendor management
- Document storage (online)
Other duties include:
- Month end support, including balance sheet reconciliations, bank recs, expense analysis
- Client set up in our billing & ERP systems
- Client billings
- Processing bank deposits
Education:
- Minimum post-secondary diploma or degree
Qualifications/Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a related role, including 2 years in AP
- Ability to prioritize tasks, monitor workflow and maintain organized and accurate records
- Ability to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify solutions when various challenges arise
- High-level attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills, with the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), Certify Expense Report platform. Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Pro FX System is considered an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, as well as vendors
- Good interpersonal skills with a team-player mindset
- Adherence to tight monthly deadlines
