This exciting opportunity is with a newly acquired company in the Markham area, looking to grow their team with the addition of an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for providing accounting support to the organization. This person will record daily and monthly transactional activity while adhering to GAAP and company accounting policies that includes record preparation, research, and reporting related to, but not limited to, general ledger activities, month-end closing activities, reconciliation of accounts as directed, financial-related reports, schedules, and audits, and assignment of special projects.Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger account reconciliations for all types of accounts, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and intangibles, to ensure accurate reporting and general ledger reliability.
• Prepare monthly journal entries
• Perform complex account reconciliations.
• Assist with financial statement preparation for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
• Assist with the annual external audit.
• Guide and mentor one (1) direct report (accounting assistant) including coordination of responsibilities and activities

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• Minimum 3-5 years of general ledger accounting experience is preferred.
• Canadian GAAP knowledge is required, US GAAP knowledge a plus
• ERP system knowledge is required, must have working experience with NetSuite
• Advanced Excel skills, including V-Lookups and Pivot tables.
• Confident working independently and using initiative to guide through challenges.
• Guide and mentor accounting assistant through coordination of responsibilities and activities
