Since 1909, the association has helped rural municipalities achieve strong, effective, local government. The RMA provides advocacy, insurance, and business services, including cooperative procurement through the Canoe Procurement Group of Canada.The RMA is seeking an Accounting Manager.JOB DESCRIPTIONIf you get excited about working in an environment with great people, professional expectations, innovative and effective processes, fast-paced operations, and you possess above-average attention to detail and accounting knowledge, we want you!The Accounting Manager position will become an integral part of the finance team, working with the General Manager of Finance on full-cycle accounting for the organization. This position has varied responsibilities which may include ensuring accurate and timely processing of sales tax returns, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, commissions, capital assets, various reporting, as well as implementing process improvements and maintaining custom software.The Accounting Manager will have access to highly confidential information, and it is expected and required that the information be held in the strictest confidence.This is a full-time, permanent position. The position will be working directly from the RMA offices in Nisku, AB.Key Responsibilities Include:The key responsibilities for this position will be derived from the management of the following for a multi-company organization:
- Accounts Payable processing
- Accounts Receivable processing
- Regular sales tax returns
- Tracking capital assets
- Commission reports and payments
- Intercompany transactions
- Bank reconciliations
- Investment reconciliations
- Collection and compilation of data
- Ad-hoc reporting
- Journal entries
- Administration of software including basic programming, data checking, and information updates
- Employee expenses and corporate credit cards
Requirements:SKILLS/EXPERTISE REQUIRED:
- Experience with Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics software.
- Multi-company, commercial, or cooperative accounting experience .
- High proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat is essential; experience with Power BI, SharePoint, and other reporting tools would be an asset.
- Strong technical skills in custom software environments including basic programming and implementation of process changes .
- Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills, and exceptional organizational and planning skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Able to generate ideas and have vision for what could be.
- Personable and able to build and maintain professional relationships.

EDUCATION:
- CPA designation required; post-secondary degree in accounting, business or a related discipline plus 5 or more years of full-cycle accounting experience will be considered.
