Job description
Can you see yourself providing support for various aspects of accounting and reporting (A&R) processes, including preparation of statutory financial statements, climate and sustainability related financial disclosures, key management financial reports and capital asset reporting? Does the idea of adjusting entries for Project Accounting (PA) and General Ledger (GL), preparation of certain accruals, support for capital asset accounting and various finance tasks as they arise sound good to you? What will you be doing!
- Preparing and analyzing key financial reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Preparing support, including climate and sustainability related financial disclosures for monthly sets of financial reports for CNL and CNEA and for use in decision making.
- Providing support for capital asset reporting.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly management reports as required.
- Providing support for various balance sheet account reconciliations, for various tax remittances and filings.
- Supporting implementation of updates to financial and reporting systems and other special projects as they arise.
- Providing backup and support to team members in Accounting and Reporting.
What we are looking for:
- This position requires a Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) or enrollment in the CPA program, progressing toward the designation.
- Minimum of 3 years of related industry and practical experience.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- A self-motivated team player who can also work independently with limited supervision.
- Adaptability and willingness to work non-standard hours as required.
- Ability to analyze and recommend accounting treatment for complex transactions and communicate information in briefing notes for Executive level review.
- Ability to review and assess financial results for timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to communicate effectively with financial data users across functional lines with varying levels of management.
- Able to work under pressure within tight time schedules and prioritize work to ensure deadlines are met.
- In depth knowledge and experience with financial systems and tools in a multi-layered application environment.
- Requires experience in preparation of documentation for audit purposes.
- Has in depth knowledge of financial reporting standards in accordance with IFRS, PSAS and ISSB/relevant Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting frameworks.
- Familiarity with Oracle, Cognos and Power BI reporting tools.
Security clearance eligibility required: Level 2 Secret which has a minimum requirement of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security”.

Location:
CNL works with employees across Canada to enable a remote workforce where possible. Our Work from Home employees are provided with the equipment required to be successful: laptop, monitor, external etc. Of course, we always love a visit to site when possible!
