Position description
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Political Science) position in the Arts & Sciences department of the Academic & Student Affairs division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Arts & Sciences, the Adjunct Political Science Instructor (Part-Time) is responsible for developing curriculum and presenting instruction in the subject area. This is a part-time position, and it requires utilizing techniques that facilitate adult learning styles and demonstrates varying techniques.
Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
* Teach evening Political Science classes.
* Prepare syllabus and other materials such as PowerPoint presentations used classroom instruction and assist with curriculum development.
* Set up course (shells) in Blackboard.
* Manage classroom by logging attendance, and reporting no-shows, assigning and reporting grades in a timely manner. Grade student assignments, as well as submit final grades.
* Advise and counsel students and maintain appropriate advisement records on each student and assist with recruitment efforts.
* Attend department and other meetings associated with the Political Science program as requested.
* Maintain professional qualifications as appropriate for the field and as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual.
* Follow rules and regulations as described by the TCSG Policy Manual, and other policies and procedures established by the institution
* Support the mission and vision of the college, program and TCSG; and
* Perform other program-related duties, as assigned.

- Must possess and demonstrate a positive attitude and well-developed organizational skills.
* Ability to multi-task and perform administrative duties for class management.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate the following:
* Master’s degree in Political Science, or at least a Master’s degree in a related field and eighteen (18) graduate hours in the aforementioned discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
* Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
* One year of teaching experience; work experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels required for Political Science and general education areas.
* Experience as an instructor / teacher in a secondary or postsecondary setting.
* Experience with BANNER and LMS, preferred.
