Administration Officer – Braintree District CouncilBraintree District CouncilTemporary, Full Time£14.00 – £15.00 phLocation: BraintreeClosing Date: 31st March 2025Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Braintree District Council to recruit an Administration Officer on a 3-6 temporary basis.The Role:We are currently in the process of developing a comprehensive, efficient and effective building control partnership that operates differently to traditional local government building control services.
We are looking for a temporary Building Control Administration Officer who possess the ability and motivation to provide a full range of effective and efficient technical, administrative and clerical support to the Building Control Service. Please note this role is based full time in the office at Braintree District Council.Accountabilities:
- Work with other team members and officers to ensure a seamless and modern approach to requests for services and the Building Control ‘Hub’
- Distribute and acknowledge incoming correspondence etc
- Assist with the registration of all types of submissions for building regulation purposes, within the service IT systems, including the opening and maintenance of job files, progressing applications and achieving service targets for the administration section of the service
- Prepare forms and correspondence for typing, including monitoring stock control and ordering stationery.
- Run reports and help prepare the reported Key Performance Indicators to the Building Safety Regulator
- Assist as required with the typing and generation of standard letters and decisions
- Prepare and distribute lists of building control matters
- Maintain various registers and records kept by the department within the service IT systems or in hard copy, including scanning and indexing documents to electronic document management systems
- Receipt of inspection notices by electronic and traditional means, retrieval and storage of job files to facilitate site inspections.
- Deal with telephone enquiries, typing and photocopying as required
- Assist as required with monitoring, storage and retrieval of building control data and information.
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Ideally you will have experience as an administration officer with the vision and ability to undertake the systems and processes of the organisation in a modern, paper free environment
- Previous experience within administration and excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft office and Word
- Good interpersonal & organisational skills, ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads & meet tight deadlines.
- Enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking, keen to embrace change, IT and new ways of Multi – skilled approach and team working abilities. Good time keeping.
