West Road Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for an advanced nurse practitioner to join our busy practice for 30 hours per week to work closely with a great team of supportive clinicians.The successful candidate will support our busy triage team with booking and allocating appointments, as well as running their own clinics.Main duties of the job
- Independently prescribe appropriate medication, evaluate and refer to other specialists and services as necessary.
- Manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Implement specialist treatment plans for chronic disease patients.
- Provide advanced specialist care to patients as required.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure read codes are used effectively.
- Support the team with clinical emergencies.
- Request and review pathology test/results.
- Review and update clinical letters and discharge summaries.

- Be a registered first level nurse, MSc or equivalent, holding current registration with the NMC.
- Masters degree level qualification
- Hold an independent prescriber qualification.
- Hold a mentor/teaching qualification.
ExperienceEssential
- Have clinical supervision training.
- Have advanced clinical practice skills.
- Be able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Be confident in leading in a variety of settings.
- Be forward-thinking and will strive to develop innovative ideas and new ways of working, that address the health needs of the practice, whilst motivating and encouraging others to do the same.
- Be an excellent communicator and collaborator.
- Embrace opportunities to work and liaise with others, across multi-professional and multi-agency boundaries, in the interests of improving patient outcomes.
- Be consistently compassionate and respectful, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Experience working in primary care is essential.
Desirable
- SystmOne experience would also be preferred but is not essential as training can be provided.
- Use of AccuRx or PATCHs total triage systems would be beneficial.
