As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional learning needs. You’ll work closely with teachers to ensure that individual education plans (IEPs) are followed and that students receive the personalized support they need. This role will involve working one-on-one with students, assisting with classroom activities, and helping to foster a positive learning environment that encourages social and emotional development.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) designed to meet each student’s specific needs.
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum by adapting materials and providing one-on-one or small group support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages independence and confidence.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and provide emotional support as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure a consistent approach to learning and support.
  • Maintain communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with ALN or in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, is advantageous.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A flexible, proactive approach to supporting a range of learning needs.
  • Willingness to undergo further training in ALN support.
