AltaGas – Director, Planning & Reporting

The Director, Planning & Reporting will lead a team of professionals and be primarily responsible for developing and communicating strategic, financial, and business analysis for the Midstream business. This role will develop and deliver high-quality financial forecasting, modeling, and performance evaluation to support the financial decision making of Midstream business.

You Will:

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization
  • Develop critical planning cycle deadlines and drive the organization to deliver
  • Prepare key presentational material for all levels of the business
  • Take a leadership role in the Midstream business efforts to improve accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and availability of one true source of operational and financial metrics
  • Build and mentor a high-performing, motivated, strategic thinking team responsible for developing, validating, and communicating the consolidated business plans
  • Contribute to a culture of support, integrity and continuous improvement
  • Partner with operational, commercial, and finance teams to continuously increase the integrity of the business forecasting
  • Continually assess the usefulness, value provided, and effort necessary for business forecasting activities, including input from other teams
  • Oversee the preparation of the annual budget and business outlooks
  • Develop and continually improve Midstream consolidated and combined financial budget and outlook process, models, and reporting
  • Provide timely and meaningful interpretation and analysis of the consolidated budgeting and planning results to the business
  • Oversee development, coordination, execution, and delivery of an ongoing reporting of monthly business performance review
  • Identify and coordinate source information needs from other operations teams within the Midstream Finance and Operations teams, and Corporate teams
  • Develop and coordinate a broader result reporting useful to the Midstream Business that could include financial results, safety, logistics, commodity pricing, capital, working capital, operations KPI’s, and environmental information useful to understanding the business.
  • Develop and maintain relationships across the Midstream business, including asset teams, to improve real-time communication of relevant information.
  • Develop and demonstrate a high-level understanding of the operations of each segment of the Midstream business and their impact on the consolidated results
  • Understand the impact of outlook for risk management activities and their impact on the consolidated results of the Division
  • Support the needs of the corporate offices of AltaGas Ltd.
  • Actively support the development and coordination with the strategic business planning processes in the Midstream business and in Corporate AltaGas Ltd.
  • Proactively analyze unusual or significant transactions to assist business impact understanding
  • Identify and understand business challenges; propose and create solutions
  • Assist the business in the development and measurement of Key Performance Indicators
  • Completing special project ad-hoc analysis as required

You Have:

  • 10+ Years of financial or accounting experience required
  • Excellent financial modeling ability through utilizing Microsoft Excel, or other available tools, to achieve timely and focused analytical conclusions
  • Proven ability to prioritize, work under pressure with minimal guidance and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically while working with inter-departmental teams at all levels of management
  • Motivation to roll up your sleeves and get into the preparation and analysis of information
  • Bachelor of Commerce or related degree (preferably finance or accounting)
  • Financial related designation (i.e. CFA, CA, CMA, CGA) or master’s level university education (i.e. MBA)
